Alive!

Finally, my second poem inspired by The Miss Rumphius Effect (see link to her blog in my blogroll!). Her Tuesday Poetry Stretch was to write a poem in the form of a Rictameter.

I have spent most of my years "watching life happen" instead of actively pursuing the life I want.
Just this evening I felt myself slipping into that "I want to hide out from life" state of mind.
I wrote this poem instead! :~)

Alive!
Not just dreaming
And watching life happen
Present in this very moment
Participating fully, engaging
my senses, emotions, actions
Failing, trying again
Not giving up
Alive!

I can relate to wanting to hide out from life! Sometimes we need to but other times, well, then time goes by and you wonder how you are in a place that you didn't plan.

I remember someone telling me that if you don't make a choice- you know the waiting to figure out what you will do but you never figure it out.....then you are in fact making a choice.

Life happens in the small steps each day....eventually those steps make a path...
which tells a story about you.

So sometimes when I get caught up in the busy-ness of daily doings- which is the same thing for me as hiding and not pursuing ....I force myself to make SMALL choices towards those dreams....

great poem.
